Our Services

Deep Roots Craftsmen offers a full range of historic preservation, restoration, and traditional building services for public and private clients.

Historic Windows & Doors

Historic windows and doors are among the most defining features of a building’s character. We specialize in the restoration, repair, reproduction, and custom fabrication of historic wood windows and doors, helping preserve both their appearance and functionality.

Our services include in-shop window and door restoration, on-site tune-ups and repairs, historically accurate reproductions, custom storm window fabrication, and custom door work. Whether maintaining original features or recreating them, we combine preservation expertise with skilled craftsmanship to deliver lasting results.

Structural Restoration, Masonry & Building Envelope

Historic buildings often face structural challenges caused by age, weather, settlement, or deferred maintenance. We specialize in assessing, repairing, and restoring historic structural systems, from timber frames and log structures to traditional wood-framed buildings. Our goal is to stabilize and strengthen these structures while preserving as much historic fabric as possible, ensuring they remain safe, functional, and historically significant for future generations.

Historic masonry and building envelope systems play a critical role in protecting a structure while preserving its character. We provide assessment, repair, and restoration services for masonry, exterior woodwork, siding, and other building envelope components, helping historic buildings remain structurally sound, weather-resistant, and true to their original design. Our approach prioritizes preservation, using appropriate materials and methods to ensure long-term performance and historic integrity.

Timber Framing & Log Work

As traditional craftsmen, we see timber framing and log work as a natural extension of historic preservation. Some of our greatest teachers have been the historic timber frames and log structures we’ve had the privilege to restore, repair, and study firsthand.

We are proud to carry forward centuries-old building traditions that continue to offer beauty, durability, and sustainability today. Like many members of the Timber Framers Guild, we view these structures as more than buildings—they are a connection between past and future, demonstrating time-tested principles that remain relevant for creating enduring, thoughtfully crafted spaces.

Preservation Carpentry

Historic preservation is at the heart of everything we do at Deep Roots Craftsmen. From large public projects supported by Colorado’s State Historic Fund (SHF) to private restoration work, we are dedicated to preserving the character, craftsmanship, and stories embodied in historic buildings.

Our team has contributed to a wide range of preservation projects throughout Colorado and New England, tackling everything from structural stabilization and reconstruction to fine finish work and specialty restoration. We regularly collaborate with architects, preservation consultants, and skilled tradespeople to ensure every project is completed with care and integrity.

Every member of our team is knowledgeable in the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation, and we bring the same thoughtful, detail-oriented approach to every project—regardless of size or scope.

Assessment & Stabilization

Early assessment and stabilization are often critical to preserving historic structures and preventing further deterioration. We evaluate existing conditions, identify areas of concern, and implement temporary or permanent stabilization measures to protect the building while long-term preservation plans are developed. Our approach helps safeguard historic materials, reduce risk, and provide a solid foundation for future restoration work.

Cost Estimating and Consulting

Successful projects begin with thoughtful planning. We believe the earlier we’re involved, the more value we can bring—whether that means developing conceptual 3D designs, preparing permit-ready drawings, creating construction budgets, or providing preservation guidance to help shape a project’s direction.

We enjoy working collaboratively with clients, architects, and project teams to solve challenges, explore possibilities, and establish a clear path forward. Just as important as the work itself are the relationships we build along the way. We welcome opportunities to get involved early and help turn ideas into well-crafted, achievable projects.
